Updates & Things

Welcome to 4local!

4local lunches will be on a brief hiatus this week, as some of us take off on spring break travels. But, all of us, whether we are staying in New York or traveling across the country, will continue to work hard on our plans to turn our guerilla lunch program into a full-blown cooperative cafe.

**If you are a member of the Columbia community, and are interested in getting involved, please e-mail us at cu4local@gmail.com. We are looking to grow our team as we focus on developing an implementation plan for our cafe vision.**

We will, however, return the first Monday after spring break, March 21st! Menu to be announced soon. We will continue operating on the SIPA 4th floor. It was amazing to see both new and old faces, to team up with CoreFoods! (they are now selling some of their organic, packaged foods alongside us), and to experience the sunny environment at SIPA, with real tables for you guys to sit at!

Please also e-mail us at cu4local@gmail.com with catering inquiries, cooking class requests, and any other inquiries. Spring is arriving- we can't wait for early spring veggies!!

Spring 2011

Welcome back! We hope you're as excited as we are for an awesome semester of 4local lunches.

Our first lunch will be next Monday, January 24th and the meal of the day will be Lasagna (vegan and non-vegan option, made with homemade pasta of course), served with a Kale Caesar (vegan) Salad and Tiramisu.

We're making a few changes to our lunch program:

1. Lunches will no longer be pre-ordered. Every week we will cook a set amount of meals, and sell them in Lerner starting at 12:30 PM until we sell out.

2.  We will now take cash  cash and credit cards at the pick-up using a secure credit card swipe. If you want to continue using paypal, just let us know.

3. For convenience of both cooking and serving, we will serve one meal of the day with a set entree, side and dessert (or fruit) for $8. There will always be a full vegan option.

4. We're working on some great discounts! If you bring a friend who hasn't ordered from us before, you'll each get $2 off your meal that week. We're also creating meal cards, so you can get a free meal when you order from us regularly.

We can't wait to see you!

Monday December 6th

This week, we are partnering with CUAMSA Global Health. With each order, you are donating $2 to their upcoming project in Guatemala.

CU Global Health is one of the four committees of the Columbia chapter of the American Medical Student's Association (AMSA). We aim to create awareness about intrinsic global health issues on campus and to that end we organize movie screenings, discussions, fundraisers campaigns and several other events throughout the year.
The money we will be raising with this collaboration will be going towards our annual service abroad trip over spring break to Antigua, Guatemala, where we will be volunteering in local clinics and working with local doctors in a rural areas, so your $2 donation will be going to help us promote global health in Guatemala this spring.

Order pick-ups will be on December 6, between 12:30PM and 1:30PM on the Lerner Hall Ramps.

Please list any allergies and dietary restrictions in the comments field. (V) indicates vegan. Please pre-pay through paypal or using a credit/debit card. If you are unable to do so, please indicate in the comments field or email gelseighkarl@gmail.com to pay cash.
